We just recently took a trip to Arkansas to visit family. And I must say that my uncle lives on one of the most lovely roads out there. One afternoon we met some friends and I was blown away with the beauty of the place. The sun shone golden in the fields and the cows seemed to say welcome. It brought me back to a time as a little girl when we would go visit for the summer and fetch eggs from the hen house, pick fresh berries and eat them warm off the vine, go swimming in the cold creek, catch tadpoles and converse with the dogs on the porch. An afternoon that became a little gift from heaven.
"Oh, the world's a curious compound, with its honey and its gall,
With it cares and bitter crosses, but a good world, after all.
An' a good God must have made it- least ways, that is what I say,
When a hand is on my shoulder in a friendly sort o'way."
