We got to go visit our new little nephew, James last weekend and oh how adorable he was!

There is something therapeutic about holding a newborn.  They smell so sweet!  So fun to have a new member of the family.

daddy daughter dates

My husband and daughter seem to go on dates weekly.  I think that it one of Emma's favorite things to do.  Dates usually consist of ice cream cones and trips to the mall or playing on a jungle gym.  This past weekend they took a paint class together and enjoyed a vanilla milkshake.

Valentine charm

My daughter and I hosted a Valentine's Day Tea this year and it turned out simply delightful.  We invited some very special ladies over and sat down to indulge in small sandwiches and finger foods.  Our final treat was red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing accompanied by hot coffee and tea with cream.  I highly recommend throwing a tea anytime of the year.  It's a good excuse to buy yourself some flowers.

lucky me

I feel so blessed to be a mother.  A gift it is to watch my little girl grow and see her through her own life's journey.  The smiles, the hugs, the frowns, the tears...they are all a part of this sweet person that I am so lucky to take care of.  Lucky me indeed.

When I am home I am never alone.  Henry is always there with me.  He is truly our first child.  At night he plays the part of heating pad as he nestles beside me and falls fast asleep.  What other friend would greet you every time you enter the front door, tail wagging?  A good companion indeed.

emma's lunch

There was something so simple and blessed about yesterday's lunch.  Emma sat down to her bowl of potato and cheese soup and cup of cold milk while I read her storybooks.  We looked at pictures and laughed at words.  At the end chunks of dark chocolate were broken up for dessert.  Sometimes it's the simple everyday things that end up meaning the most.
