About Me

My photo
I'm an old-fashioned girl who likes to feel feminine. I'm a mother of one beautiful little lady. Our dog, Henry, considers himself her older brother. I have a husband who loves me and makes me feel beautiful. Who could ask for more?

I got to know this lovely lady a little better during our photo shoot together.  A beautiful and smart girl she is!  She was a trooper walking barefoot when the weather was down in the lower 40's.  Here's to portraits that will last a lifetime!

"We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not breaths; in feelings, not in figures on a dial.  We should count time by heart-throbs.  He most lives who thinks most, feels the noblest, acts the best."

Oh the joy of watching a belly grow and wondering what little treasure is waiting inside.  I find expectant mothers to have a beauty about them that is unexplainable.  They are touched by a tenderness and a peace that makes one stop and instantly intrigued by their fragile and most amazing state.
I've come to the conclusion that moving into a new house can make one very busy.  Sorry I've been out for awhile.  I'm back.

I had the pleasure of photographing a friend's little one last week.  This baby just happens to be the sweetest little thing you've ever seen.  At the end of our visit she fell asleep on her mummy's shoulder and complete contentment came over her face.  She was home and she new she was safe and loved.

old barns

Have you ever realized that some of the oldest things are some of the most beautiful?  There's a peace about a worn barn that has seen alot of wind and rain.  It looks as though it is wise with knowledge that only weathered years can bring.  And it is so happy being what it is, knowing that it has provided shelter for many things throughout the years.

a day trip to tennessee found us surrounded by captivating things.  we became intrigued with old buildings and antique shops full of treasures.  we indulged in whiskey burgers, bar-b-que and ice cream.  we stopped on the side of the road and fed horses grass and took pictures of donkeys staring at us, big ears erect.  and of course we sighed at the sight of the rolling hills, with fields looking like patchwork quilts keeping the ground warm.

precious words from a wise lady

"I think of my memories as tucked away in an ebony treasure box like rough-cut jewels, often with no setting, just colored stones, some midnight black, some golden as sunrise over the sea, some the peaceful hue of chalcedony. When I hold one in my hand, chosen at random, I live completely in the spell it casts. Then they may go back in the ebony box as I face the adventures of tomorrow."

On Eagle's Wings

And God will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand.

celebrating lovely little ladies

I had the pleasure of photographing a little girl who is about to turn 6 years old. The weather was cool and sunny and just perfect for a morning of shooting pictures. And it was a joy to work with such a sweet little lady. She has her mother's brown eyes and a smile that warms your heart. May her year of being 6 be a very blessed one!

once upon a hydroponic farm

Have you ever had a day that you've discovered little treasures and the whole experience makes you appreciate life just a little bit more? Well I came across one of these mornings and savored it down to the last minute. We started out at a hydroponic farm where things grow up instead of out. Imagine rows of strawberries all poking out from their green leaves shining like rich rubies all warmed by the sunshine. And tomato plants twice as tall as you that you can walk through like a cave. And zinnias for 25 cents a piece, pick your own glorious rainbow of them. Then we stopped at a place with chickens and flower and herb gardens where my little girl fell in love with a cabin just her size and wanted to invite all her friends for tea. Here there are classes to teach children about growing gardens and starting compost piles. Yes, some days truly become little jewels that you can treasure forever.
